Several things have changed in these cities, since I've been here last; I hadn't expected this level of progress in such a relatively short period of time. That isn't to say it's a bad thing, per se; this place is still trying to retain some sense of culture, it seems, even if said culture is centered entirely around these creatures we're being made to befriend.

Although - preservation of culture or no - I still can't say I approve of the architecture, it's incredibly unappealing.

[ACTION]

[This had taken some getting used to.

It wasn't exactly that Tokiomi had been afraid of the creature - it was sort of difficult to be afraid of something that looked so generally nonthreatening, and he obviously saw no reason to fear the flames, given his alignment back home - so much as he really, really wasn't one for physical contact with...anything, much less animals. There was also a mild concern at first that it would throw him, but thankfully the steed in question seemed to recognize him after a moment. It had been a while, but he had belonged to Tokiomi originally; after a while of slow pacing around the creature, it had eventually nudged him as though to imply that he should really get a move on if he was going to do something.

Tokiomi had given it a bit of a Look, though it was more disapproving than angry; however, he did have to admit that the animals here were far more intelligent than they were back in his home world. So it was decided, then; muttering something about how he sincerely hoped this one would use that intelligence to not throw him off or burn him horrendously through his clothes, he had vaulted up onto its back, and...huh.

Well, this wasn't...terrible. The most contact he'd had with any sort of animal in his life, which was certainly unpleasant, but it wasn't intolerable.

And so it had come to pass that Tokiomi Tohsaka had shown up in Violet City, giving absolutely zero damns that he was doing so astride a flaming unicorn and seeing no reason to dismount upon arrival, choosing instead to ride the damn thing like he has all the swag in the world.

...well, that's not entirely true - he clearly dismounted somewhere along the line to partake in Violet City's...ah, specialty, there.

Flaming unicorn.

Glass of red.

Rather expensive-looking jewel-encrusted staff tucked under his arm.

More composure and elegance than you can shake a stick at.

...and no sense of direction, he has no idea where he's going and has taken to just wandering around aimlessly until he finds something familiar or is stopped.

Can't win them all, clearly.]

[The day is not off to a great start, as far as Tokiomi is concerned.

At the very least, he isn't practically holding Mom hostage again in an attempt to get answers; he's also not threatening the 'Gear or anyone that may be listening in on it. Just yet, anyway. He's considered.

Has he ever considered.

However! For the time being he is adhering to the general principles of elegance and composure; if he's doesn't, he's fairly sure he'll do something regrettable. That creed is going to become a madness mantra before too long if he doesn't watch it. He'd had an easier time communicating through text last time; he still remembers how to get the 'Gear to function without damaging itself in the process. So let's...see how this goes.]

My name is Tokiomi Tohsaka; I don't recall the circumstances under which I left, as it was very sudden, but it seems I've been absent from this place for far longer than I recall being where I'm supposed to be - that was perhaps ten minutes at the most; from the look of things, I've been gone from this place for a few months.

That said, I'm afraid technology has never been my strong point - these "not found" messages...are they the result of some sort of error, or does that imply that the individuals I'm trying to contact are no longer in Johto? I'm certain they aren't being entered incorrectly.

Furthermore, are there any others this has happened to - returning to one's world of origin, only to be brought back here? I sincerely hope this isn't going to be a frequent occurrence, or else I may have to be incredibly displeased.

[He sends the message after ensuring that it's actually what he wants to say; he can be found in New Bark Town for the time being, fiddling with the 'Gear awkwardly once in a while (Sakura Matou - Gear ID not found) before simply deciding to put the thing up before it does his head in.]

[ACTION]

[Meeting Kayneth's...utter charmer of a fiancée in person was likely something left for a better time - after all, the man was just being reunited with her, it was probably best to give the both of them some space. To say nothing of the fact that said fiancée had mentioned someone named "Derry" travelling with her; Tokiomi couldn't help but think that this...likely was not something he wanted to involve himself in.

For the time being, then, training was the best option; it gave him something to do with himself that wasn't simply spending time in the town trying not to talk to people, and it presented something to think about besides. He'd been a bit more withdrawn than usual lately; going through the motions for the most part, really. His thoughts hadn't been in Johto, but rather in Fuyuki City - with Rin and Aoi, with Kirei. He misses them greatly; he isn't sure what to do with that, other than try to push past it. After all, it isn't as though there's anything to be done about it.

...of course, Johto being Johto, it isn't going to let him dwell on it for too long; he's noticed the larger number of Pokémon around lately, and he's been taking advantage of the psychic swarms by...well, level-grinding like a boss. It's been a godsend, really, given where they are - Kayneth had insisted on dragging him clear back to Cherrygrove, of all godforsaken places - but as with every swarm of wild animals in that place, there's always the oddball in the crowd that likes to follow humans around for absolutely no reason. Maybe it's aware of Tokiomi's melancholy lately; maybe it's just looking for food or something, who knows. But by the second morning of training on this route, he's had enough of the...thing hovering around, constantly nearby; really, he catches it simply because at that point, he might as well.

Of course, this has really only compounded the issue, as once he releases the thing from the ball to check stats, it's promptly hovering far too close to his shoulder and rubbing on him and generally providing more contact than he's used to with most people, much less animals. Lovely.

Happy birthday, Tokiomi; have a very affectionate pink windchime. Given that the thing only knows Wrap at its current level, he has his work cut out for him, let's put it that way.]

[TEXT]

[Admittedly, Tokiomi manages to misfire a time or two trying to get the 'Gear to work; he's still not terribly used to it, and there was at least one Chimecho-caused failpost when she decided that the piece of machinery was, clearly, the most interesting thing she'd ever seen. So hopefully no one minded the few random instances of three-second blurry pink jittercam before Tokiomi gives up on video entirely and just goes for text.]

I'm looking for places of cultural and historical significance within Johto. I've seen the Ruins of Alph (to some extent); is there anywhere else that's noteworthy?
pretentions: (pic#3035501)
[And today, Johto, you are being treated to a video from inside a house that should be at least vaguely familiar to those of you who started out your Pokémon JourneyTM from New Bark Town. The camera seems to be set up on the kitchen table, tilted back to show a couple of people sitting at said table, a couple of cups of some steaming drink between them. Tea, perhaps.

This would be Tokiomi Tohsaka, just chilling in the kitchen with Mom. You know. As you do.

She looks vaguely strained, like she's just itching to try to push him outside - she can't have him getting a late start, that won't do at all. In the meantime, while Tokiomi looks more or less calm, it's obvious that he's a bit weary for what probably amounts to "a whole mess of reasons."]

As much as I don't appreciate what you've done in bringing me here, whomever you are, let's start with the basics. Whatever suggestion you've given this woman to make her believe she's a member of my family...if it isn't removed within the next ten minutes, I'll ensure that the necessary steps are taken to hold you accountable for your actions.

[He smiles a bit after that; the expression is a confident one, but it isn't cruel. It's almost amiable, really, if we ignore the vague threats full of vagueness that he's throwing around.]

Following that, we can discuss my return to Fuyuki City. You're rather bold, but I trust you understand that trifling with the Tohsaka family isn't something to be undertaken lightly; the sooner that these requests are met, the more likely I'll be to forgive.

[And after that's out there, Tokiomi will just be reaching out and...attempting to...turn off the ggggggGGGGGGGGOOD GOD ALMIGHTY, what in the world did he even do to produce that noise -

Though he recovers quickly enough from the sheer amount of startling that got, you'll have to forgive him for a moment while he simply linefaces at that low-pitched cacophony he's somehow horribly broken his Gear into producing. As far as he's concerned, the noise is best described as "really damn awful"; as far as modern audiences are concerned, the noise is probably best described as "dubstep," but to each their own.]

That's likely not a good sign, is it...

[Whether it is or not, Mom doesn't seem too inclined to be helpful over there, offering what sounds like a quiet "Do you need a replacement for that, dear...?" in the background before the video feed finally shuts off.]

So, how has your RPing experience been with Tokiomi so far - good, bad, aggressively mediocre? Here's where you can tell me! I'm always striving to improve, so feel free to crit as much as you like!

Things to possibly offer crit on:

+ Character Voice: Is his dialogue appropriate for his character, and does it sound like something he would conceivably say? Am I off in terms of slang usage or character-specific terms? Have I been calling your character by the wrong thing entirely (using a name instead of a title or the other way around, etc)? Is he being too aggressive? Overly passive? Is he too vague, or hitting your character over the head with all the subtlety of an anvil tied to an oncoming train at a time when that would not be appropriate?

+ Character Actions: Are the physical actions I'm describing logical and...well, physically possible? Are the situations that I'm utilizing in posts reasonably in-character? Is he treating your character in ways that are consistent with their CR, or has he been acting strangely toward them for seemingly no reason?

+ Tag Content: Am I giving you enough to respond to? Am I giving too much by overloading with dialogue or descriptions? Am I being too vague about the direction of a thread and causing it to meander around aimlessly, or does it feel like I'm going the other way entirely and trying to direct or force our CR?

+ Other Tagging Problems: Do I frequently miss the point or make stupid mistakes while tagging? Has there been derpy grammar, unclear phrasing, accidental godmode battling, things in action brackets that cause a tremendous WHAT THE HELL response, or the like?

...or it's entirely possible that you just really liked that last thread we did and want to tell me. That's perfectly cool as well!
